New article in Clinical Nutrition
A new Clinical Nutrition article by Ameen Eetemadi and Professor Ilias Tagkopoulos investigating the role of the gut microbiome in dietary treatments for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We integrated and analyzed raw microbiome data from multiple IBS studies and showed for the first time that methane and fatty acid metabolism pathways are predictive of Low-FODMAP diet efficacy for patients with IBS. We identified three microbial genera Ruminococcus 1, Ruminococcaceae UCG-002, and Anaerostipes that constitute a diet recommendation biomarker for IBS leading to more effective symptom management strategies in IBS.
